Ancestor coverage table

The table below counts the number of direct lineal ancestors about whom some information is known (the count is inaccurate for the remotest medieval generations, where not all lines have been entered into the GEDCOM file from which this count was generated, and no ancestors beyond the 21st generation, which includes Edward III of England and Philippa of Hainault, have been entered).

The following are the meanings of the terms in the table ("Diff" and "Unique" are only given when different from "Found"):

"Total"

the total number of potential ahnentafel slots in a generation (always a power of 2).

"Found"

the number of ahnentafel slots actually filled in each generation.

"Diff."

the number of different individuals in each generation (a single individual may fill more than one slot, due to cousin internarriage in more recent generations).

"Unique"

the number of new individuals in each new generation (who are not also present in any more recent generation). When "Unique" is different from "Diff", this is due to intermarriage between "removed" cousins of different generations in more recent generations.

"Percentage"

the ratio "Found"/"Total", expressed as a percentage.
